Play
Play is important for young children to
learn skills that are crucial for daily
life. Through different sorts of play, such
as constructional play, fantasy play and
play guided by the teacher, social-emotional
development will be enhanced .
Arts and Crafts
Every day arts and crafts activities, like
singing, puppet plays, handicrafts and drawing,
take place and are built into the topic
curriculum.
Language Activities
Many activities are organised to enhance
speaking and listening, for instance through
Circle Time or reading to the children by
the teacher.
Specific attention is paid to the development
of language throughout the day.
Working on Learning
Conditions
Through a variety of developmental materials,
the children follow a well-prepared programme
adapted to their level and are stimulated
to increase skills, language, attention
and focus. Much attention is paid to social-emotional
development.

Basic skills
Reading, spelling, language and math are
emphasised. The basis of the programme is
the British
National Curriculum
and the International
Primary Curriculum (UK) ,
cross referenced with the stated learning
outcomes for the Dutch Primary Education
Curriculum. The programme is specified for
each child individually. We also address
work attitude (independent work), motivation,
social-emotional development and other activities
in a structured way. In addition to the
regular learning material for key subjects,
the school has supplementary materials at
its disposal.
Playtime
Opportunities for play are built into the
daily routine. Outside Playtime is organised
togheter with students from the HSV International
Department nearby. Emphasis is placed on
socio-emotional and physical development.
Extracurricular activities
In addition, there is time and opportunity
for pleasure and relax. Therefore extra-curricular
activities are organised during school time,
such as:
- parties for Sinterklaas, Christmas
- cultural activities ( museum visits)
- field trips
- life skills (shopping, traffic)
