14/12/2011: WINTER CONCERT 2011

The Three Little Ships and Lighthouse had a Holiday Celebration on December 14^th. It was an opportunity to see the children perform joyful songs they have practiced during the holiday season. After the music performances parents & staff shared a bit of cheer, with savoury and sweet international dishes. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to celebrate with us!

14/11/2011: FIELD TRIP TO THE ART STUDIO

The students in Class 3 had an art-filled field trip to Susanne’s art studio earlier this month. The focus of the trip was an "Aboriginal art project" in which students decorated umbrellas and painted canvases to the Aboriginal theme. The outcome was spectacular!

26/10/2011: SPECIAL VISIT TO LIGHTHOUSE AND THREE LITTLE SHIPS

During the month of October we were honored with a visit from the wife of Slovenian Ambassador Marc, Mrs. Barbara Blaznik Marc, and the wife of Romanian Ambassador Fabian, Mrs. Mihaela Fabian. We appreciate their interest in the education of our children and the educational awareness they help bring to our international community.

13/10/2011: AWC HEARTS&MINDS GALA, MAY 2011

Last spring, the AWC - American Womens Club of The Hague hosted the Hearts and Minds Gala fundraiser for autism in which Lighthouse Special Education was the recipient of a generous donation of €25.000. Lighthouse and the HSV would like to specially thank Leslie Collingridge, AWC Past-President, and Jan de Vries and Sophie Dencher, co-chairs of the gala committee, along with the entire committee, the parents, children and staff who contributed to the success of the gala. Special thanks to Susanne Kingdon-Nielsen, Art Therapist, for working with the teachers and children on the art projects for the event.
With the gala funds, Lighthouse has been able to purchase computers and software for the classrooms, computer tables, sensory equipment and materials, assessment tools, mats for the gym, and a range of learning materials for each classroom.

25/09/2011: INTERNATIONAL BAZAAR

On September 25^th, the Lighthouse community held an International Bazaar graciously hosted at the Slovenian Residency of the Hague , to raise funds in support of Lighthouse Special Education and Three Little Ships Preschool. This was truly a delightful international event that helped raise nearly €3000 toward educational material, supplies, and play equipment for all children in the school.
